McAfee AVERT Labs would like to inform you of an email HOAX.

This email message is just a HOAX, currently we know of no other message that the user will receive about the HOAX as the initial email states. AVERT has not received any report of a user's hard drive being erased for opening the email.

We are advising users who receive the email to delete it and DO NOT pass it on as this is how an email HOAX propagates.

Below is the actual text from the message that may be received via email.

ALERT. THE WORST VIRUS IN HISTORY. Recently a new virus was discovered that has been classified by Microsoft and McAfee as the most destructve virus of the all times. This virus was discovered yesterday and it is recognized with the name of ANTICRISTO, it hasn't been found by any antivirus, it simply destroys sector zero of the hard disk where vital information about the system functionality is stored. It works like this: 1) It sends itself to all in the address book with the subject "SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2) At the moment that the virus is installed, it destroy sector zero and in this way it destroys the hard disk permanently. Please send this E-Mail to the most number of people that you can, in case you receive an e-mail with the subject "SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", take it from an expert because the virus has the capacity to auto install itelf.

Again, if you receive this email delete it and DO NOT pass it on.

Este virus fue descubierto ayer y se esta conociendo con el nombre de ANTICRISTO, no ha sido encontrado un antivirus, simplemente destruye la trilla cero del disco duro, donde est�n guardadas Informaciones vitales para su funcionamiento. Funciona de la siguiente manera: 1) Se autoenv�a a todos los nombres de su agenda con el titulo "SORPRESA�!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 2) En el momento que se instala destruye la trilla cero y as� destruye para siempre el disco duro. Por favor enviar este E-Mail al mayor n�mero de personas posibles, en caso de recibir un e-mail con asunto "SORPRESA�!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", hagase aconsejar por un experto ya que tiene la capacidad de autoinstalarse.
