Distribution

This is not a virus or trojan. It is a porn related application. This application generates automatically opens the web browser and remains active in the system tray.

Installation

Upon execution, the application installs itself into the %SysDir% directory as "srs.EXE".

(Where %Sysdir% is the Windows System directory, for example C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM)

For example:

c:\WINDOWS\system32\ShellExt\srs.EXE

The following Registry key(s) is/are added to hook system startup:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main "Start Page" = "http://www.yellowstuff.com"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Connector" = "%SysDir%\ShellExt\srs.EXE -n"

The Start page for Internet Explorer is also changed to point to the "http://www.yellowstuff.com".

Users who would like to check for the presence of potentially unwanted programs on their system should run the command line scanner with the /PROGRAM switch.
Please note that VirusScan 7, and higher, has an option that enables users to detect this kind of program automatically (see below).
