The 4412 DAT files contain an incorrect identification on certain Macromedia Flash 7.0 created executables. The 4413 DAT files were released to correct this issue.

This detection is of application type for "potentially unwanted programs", it is not a virus. Detection and removal using VirusScan requires the detection of "potentially unwanted programs" to be enabled. With the command-line scanner this is achieved via the /PROGRAM switch. VirusScan 7.x and 8.0i users can enable application detection via the GUI options.
This application is a screensaver which repeatedly connects to certain websites.
Upon running the application, the following confirmation is given of installation:
A Macromedia screensaver is shown, referencing the "MakeLoveNotSpam" website. If no internet connection is available, it shows a graphical representation of the third-party websites being contacted.
The following registry entry is changed, to apply this screensaver:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop "SCRNSAVE.EXE" = C:\WINDOWS\LYCOS-~1.SCR
The following files are placed in the Windows directory:
- Lycos - make LOVE not SPAM.dat (18,192 bytes)
- Lycos - make LOVE not SPAM.dll (40,960 bytes)
- Lycos - make LOVE not SPAM.exe (1,370,796 bytes)
- Lycos - make LOVE not SPAM.scr (404,872 bytes)
