Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a protocol used to monitor and manage network devices. A vulnerability exists in Microsoft SNMP that may allow for code execution on a vulnerable host. The flaw is due to a memory-corruption error triggered by a buffer overflow within the SNMP service. This could be exploited by a remote attacker without the need for authentication. The vulnerable component is not installed by default.
